Bosch Ghana’s donation modernises ATTC workshop

10/30/2019

Ghana, Accra - The Accra Technical Training Centre (ATTC) was commissioned in July 1966 to bridge the skills gap, train the work force, to address unemployment and meet the demands of industrialisation.

The ATTC vocational and technical co-education institution is located in the heart of Accra offering 18 elective courses which include building construction, electrical engineering, industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, wood construction and welding and fabrication technology among others. Modernising the workshop included a two-phase approach from facilities to equipment and enhancing the knowledge of the educators.

In phase one, the workshop within the training centre received an all-round facelift with new industrial floors, painted walls and a tools and accessories storage unit. Additionally, the workshop has been furnished with new workbenches at the workstations. The new improved training environment lends itself to an enhanced learning environment for both trainers and learners.

In phase two, 30 different power tools with fitting accessories will be donated for the workshop-training program of metal, concrete and woodworking. As an essential part of phase two, a trainer from Bosch will train five trainers from the training centre on power tools safety and use in accordance with the correct application.

Bosch, foresees the need for upcoming educated artisans to be well equipped with modern tools relevant for the different artisans and professional users across the country. The introduction of power tools as essential artisan tools will contribute to the enhancement of livelihood and open doors to small artisan businesses.
